1. what first inspired you to become a drummer?

I first took an interest in drumming pretty early in life; I must have been 8 or 9 when I started.

I was first inspired by hearing and seeing the drummers at the church I attended back then and decided that I wanted to be a drummer too.

2. anything that you’ve learnt along the way that’s really helped you as a drummer?

Since then I have played in plenty of different bands of various styles. I found that playing at church has really improved my sensitivity as a drummer and now when playing in other bands, I pride my self in laying out a great foundation for the other musos and keeping it all tight, driving our sound from the drums.

3. who have you and/or who are you playing with at the moment and what are the bands movements?
   Anything to plug?

Currently, a few mates have come together and we are having heaps of fun playing some covers. We go by the name of Handsome Troy and we are a 4 piece based in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Currently we’re just doing partys and enjoying that, soon we plan on getting into some pubs to do some stuff but for now we are just enjoying it!

4. what gear are you using at present?

I recently bought a new kit from Revolver Drums, it’s a Mapex M series 6 piece and I’m playing Meinl cymbals.

Really enjoying this new set up, it has improved my sound out of sight!

5. what would be your dream gig?

My dream gig is really pretty simple, it’s any time we’re playing and all really enjoying it and getting into it. As long as the crowd are into us and are having a great time, were enjoying what we are playing and the sound is what we are after, the rest of it doesn’t matter that much to me.

6. favourite drummers and/or bands and why?

I’m into a wide range of music styles and tastes. My CD player could be playing anything from Rage Against the Machine, The Darkness, Millencolin, Killswitch Engage, Metallica, Gyroscope, through to Muse, The Mars Volta, Powderfinger, Ben Folds, Jamiraqui, or Casting Crowns etc. All the bands I like have something about them which I take and try to add to my drumming. …..   I love the grooves of The Darkness, the energy of Killswitch Engage, the technicality of The Mars Volta.
