1. what first inspired you to become a drummer?

When I was at high school in year nine I started getting drums lessons to get out some boring subject, it was then I realised that I loved drumming.

2. anything that you've learnt along the way that's really helped you as a drummer?

Mainly when struggling with things, go back to basics ie posture, breathing, are you relaxed?

3. who have you and/or who are you playing with at the moment and what are the bands movements? Anything to plug?

Bands I've played in include frente, Machine Translations, The Maelstrom, Merryl Bainbridge, Ruck Rover, Boof, Gerry Hale's Innocent Bystanders, Rootbound System, Registered Nurse and Deborah Conway. At the moment I'm playing with Mick Thomas who is currently touring his new album Paddock Buddy, which we recorded in a farmhouse in the country.

4. what gear are you using at present?

I still own 2 Pork Pie kits which are leftovers from an endorsement which I had while touring America during the 90s with frente.Also I have a 70s Gretsch which also sounds great. And for snares I have a couple of Bradys, a 1961 Ludwig chrome brass, and an old dual action Premier for that warm old sound. I use Zildjan cymbals but am interested in Bosphorus.

5. what would be your dream gig?

My dream gig would probably be playing with "Beck". His grooves are great and the band really jam out live.
Although the reformed Crowded House would've been.....................

6. favourite drummers and/or bands and why

I'm only gonna talk about the locals coz the're the ones I mainly see these days.

1. John Watson - fantastic grooves and a bag of tricks and fills that anyone would be proud of { dont ever prank call him!}

2. Pete Jones- Anyone who has seen him play with bands such as "dianna kiss" would know what im talking about, just a fantastic feel. {dont touch his motor bike!}

3. Tony Floyd is Mr versatile he can cut any gig any style anywhere and sings like a bird and the list of people he's played with is daunting. {dont joke about his volvo!}

4. Mike Jordan, best known for his playing in the "Paul Williamson Hammond combo".He can solo all night. {cant ever find him when its time to start the 2nd set!}

5.Ashley Davies- I love his playing on "Soul Witness" with Matt Walker, he is never scared to let the snare ring naturally.Also he has just released a solo album. {has been known to leave the kit set up in the van!}

6.Paul Hester- My first ever overseas tour was with "frente" supporting "Crowded House" he was a fantastic drummer and was the funniest person you could ever meet, his brushes playing is the stuff of legend.{came up very well in a dress}

7.Dave Williams- The innovative drummer in "Augie March" he is never scared to go for it on big gigs and sings fantastic backing vocals.He is never lost for words which comes in very handy if there is a technical hitch.{can play any 6/8 feel while asleep!}

8.James Harvey - The groove master behind the band "Hot Little Hands" plays really interesting parts {one to watch!}

9. Marti Brown- plays in "Art Of Fighting", "Clare Bowditch" and "Soda Stream" He has that light Touch but still grooves really well, also he is becoming a renowned producer. A master of "less is more" { dont offer to baby sit the kids}
