1. what first inspired you to become a drummer?

i have always loved music. one of the first drumming experiences i can remember was when i was very young. and i would dream up beats and see the colours to them. a light blue was the bass drum and pink for the snare. now i have learnt that this ability is called Synaesthesia. it enabled me to see the pattern and later on work out exactly what i wanted to play.

i started first playing with sticks and branches when i would climb trees, then i made my own drum kit out of plastic and tin drums behind the chook shed. with a plowing disk for a cymbal.

years on, whenever we went to a family friends house, (that had a drumkit) i would take every opportunity to play drums.

2. anything that you’ve learnt along the way that’s really helped you as a drummer?

as far as timing, i think playing alone to a cd is an exellent way to improve. or a metronome. at first it takes a bit of getting use to but once your comfortable its fine.

you need to be completely satisfied and love how your instrument sounds. keep on tuning it or try something else if your not. because if each drum sounds great youll just want to play.

3. who have you and/or who are you playing with at the moment and what are the bands movements/Anything to plug?

not at the moment. although i would like to. ill try and organise something soon.

4. what gear are you using at present?

the drumkit is a Mapex Venus series that i got in 2003. it has a Tama iron corba kick, pearl 8'' snare and bosphorus new orleans series cymbals.

i have just bought a 16x16 floor tom that is waiting at Revovler Drums. and home made drum sticks.

5. what would be your dream gig?

at a paddock in the middle of the night. its a full moon and we're playing in a clearing amongst dead trees.

6. favourite drummers and/or bands and why?

Jim Sclavunos, who has been/is member of 8 Eyed Spy, The Cramps, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Alice Texas.

i like all these bands and the way he applies drums/percussion  to them.
