Conducted by respected Melbourne performer and teacher, Barnaby Gold, this four-week workshop is designed for drummers looking for a solid introduction to the 26 Standard Rudiments, as well as those needing supplementary material as they prepare for the VCE drum-set syllabus.

Originally from Chile, Javier started performing professionally at the age of 14. He has studied under prominent Cuban Master Percussionist Jose Quintata (Changuito) for over 4 years , visiting Cuba on each occasion.

Javier is one of Melbourne’s most highly sought after Afro-Cuban percussion tutors and performers.

He has performed with the likes of Kate Ceberano, Renee Geyer, Barney Mcall, Doug DeVries and Bad Boys Batucada. Javier brings with him an immense passion and first hand knowledge of Afro-Cuban rhythms.

Brazilian Percussion 4 Week Course

From Bad Boys Batucada, Tumbarumba Samba and Oziriguidum Escola de Samba.)

The 4 week course is an introduction to Brazilian percussion and includes culture, history and dance.

It is designed for musicians of all levels (and first-time musicians) and is conducted in a fun and informal atmosphere.

The aim of the course is to give participants hands on experience with a variety of instruments and musical styles and to provide the opportunity for further study and performance.
