Look at the number of days you have to reach your goal, look at how many times you will practice and for how long and write it down so you can put it next to your drums and see it every time. Now every time you sit down to play you will be reminded of what you are trying to achieve and will actually start to work on those topics and improve.

It could be anything from wishing to improve the tempo you play your rudiments at or finally being able to do some Latin style playing or conquering some speeds at doing double kick playing. Whatever it is it doesn’t matter what matters is that you don’t waste your time and that you just trickle onward to the next level without any clear direction.

I am not the worlds best, fastest, trickiest, richest, busiest or most well known player there is, and I suppose that might not have ever been my true dominant goal. However I most surely did sit down many times and planned out where I wanted to be in certain time frames and worked how to get there. Once you start to get on that improvement cycle and you are breaking new ground with your playing every day, I have to tell you that really is the fun of it. TRY IT TODAY.
