The best part of this method is the opportunity to go back and forth between the original style of beat whether that be one with 1/4 , 1/8th original hihat pattern on top. By doing this you can get a really good feel for the change over and it means that you will be truly playing not just reading from a book and then going on to the next pattern in sequence.
It is a very simple idea and you probably have already learned ¼, 1/8th and 1/16th note beats but do try this method of mixing up the counts, you will find it fun and challenging.
